Random

I'm in the mood to blog, although I don't really have a topic right now- So this is going to be random.

I am sooo in the mood to travel.  My friend Hayes just returned from Italy and Greece and I have a friend traveling throughout Europe right now AND my boss is headed to Vancouver and Greece this summer.  Geez Louise right?  I have the bug- So if anyone wants to take me somewhere I will go!

I would love for my next long weekend trip to be to Austin, TX- I have always wanted to go there.
I want to go to Vegas too, I wish I knew someone turning 30- I will def be going out of my 20s with a bang there.
I also really really really want to go to Greece.

One day when I have time, I plan on blogging about my Spain travels. One day...........

I'm loving island coconut coffee right now.  I add a dash of Bailey's Irish Cream Coffee Creamer and it's perfection, I promise you :)

Gabe had his 3 year check up recently.  The doctor was super impressed with him :)  He asked if he could count to 10 and was picking up on words.  I said, umm heck yeah- he can count to 30, 10 in Spanish and knows almost all of the 50 states in alphabetical order :) So, take that! ha.  People do tell me all the time how smart he is, but I honestly don't have anything to compare him to, so it's all I know.  I haven't been around other 2 and 3 year olds to know the difference.

Stats from the doctor

Weight- 30.2lbs
Height- 36 1/4 inches
Head- 19.5 inches

No shots this visit, but they did have to prick his finger and if you ask him what they were doing he will tell you, "they had to check my hemoglobin".

Aren't these so cute?  They are currently out of stock, but I'm going to buy them as soon as they come in!  If you ask him what kind of shoes he wants he will tell you "grey Toms".  ha- Love it.

My recent purchases:

Loving this-  My face feels so clean and smooth after use.  I use every night and use the scrub with it once maybe twice a week.  Only $30.00

Pictures from the week-

I was CRAVING guacamole on Tuesday so my hot date and I went to Cocina Superior.  He loved it, he waved to everyone that walked by, got to drink a Mexican Strawberry Soda out of a "bottle" and asked our waiter for a pair of latex gloves (which he got).

mmmm, mojito

Chugging his soda

We then went across the street to Sweet Frogs.  Below is "Scoop" he came out to talk to Gabe (we were the only people in there).

Yesterday, I was stuck in traffic for an hour and a half, 65 was shut down from 3:30 till 8:00pm due to a 2 vehicle accident in which 2 people lost their lives :( Really sad, Prayers out to their families.  Gabe has to be picked up by 6pm or I have to pay extra and I don't really have anyone to depend on when it comes to things like that except my sweet friend Brooke.  She saved me and changed her plans last minute to go get him for me :)  She took him to the mall and I met them there and Gabe got to ride Scoop's brother on the carousel. ha!  Gabe was a wild man last night.  I can not control him sometimes.  He was sprinting all over the mall and I'm sure I looked like a mad woman chasing him.  He finally slowed down for a second and starting singing jingle bells at the top of his lungs in the middle of the food court.  People were stopping to listen and had their phones out video taping him.  Oh my child............haha

We finally got home around 8 30, bath time for G, then bed, then I may have enjoyed a bubble bath and candles because I needed a break.  Looking forward to a weekend of laziness!  All I want to do is clean out closets and drawers and watch a red box movie....maybe a pedicure in there somewhere :)

It's almost Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gabe's Birthday Weekend- Part 2

Birthday Party Day!!!!!!

Gabe has been really into Curious George lately, so he decided he wanted a Curious George birthday party.  I found all the party supplies on clearance at Party City because it's being discontinued....booo, but yay for good prices :)

I wanted to do something simple while I could still get away with it, so decided to have it at Veterans Park in Hoover.  I knew this would be easy for most parents to get to, since his school is not too far away.  It turned out really well.  I wish it would have been about 10 degrees cooler as it was at the hottest part of the day and close to 90 degrees.  I don't know how the kids lasted as long as they did....but they did!  I purchased the cake from Olexa's Bakery in Mountain Brook.  Most people know I am a cake snob.  I have to have the best of the best.  Last year we used Dreamcakes and I was super pleased, but wanted to try Olexa's this year.  They are known for their wedding cakes, so thought- why not get my 3 year old's cake from there?!? haha.  I loved the way they decorated it and it tasted really good.  I think the cake started to split or crumble and they patched it up with icing...although they did not tell me this and I did not see till I took out of the box on Sunday (they presented it to me in the box on Saturday and just opened to show me the top view).  That kinda bothered me...I wish they would have acknowledged and offered to take off $10.00 or something just to have good customer service.  I probably won't use them again for that reason.  I think I liked Dreamcakes a little bit better anyways.  I also want to try Magic Muffins in Cahaba Heights and Pastry Art in Homewood.  I've heard great things about those two as well :)

I made chicken salad and a pepper jelly dip for the adults and my mom made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the kids.  We also had bananas, banana chips, coconut macaroons, goldfish and twizzlers.  I think G had a great time and am thankful for all the friends and family who came :)

Gabe's Birthday Weekend- Part 1

We had a great birthday weekend!  Friday, Gabe's school had a fieldtrip to the zoo.  I took off work to go and  of course see the monkeys, they are my fav!  I want to go back and ride a camel- I wonder if G would do that....hmmm.  Anywho- we had a great time.  I was ready for a nap afterwards, but Gabe was full force all day.  I then spent the remainder of Friday getting things together for Gabe's birthday party.

And then we met Brooke and Millie for Sno Biz

Saturday- Happy Birthday G-man!

I woke Gabe up by singing Happy Birthday in the most obnoxious way imaginable and then asked him if he was ready to go birthday potty and brush his birthday teeth.  This theme carried throughout the day as we ate birthday breakfast at IHOP and then got back in the birthday car to go pick up the birthday cake :)  We then went to Olivia's (Gabe's friend/classmate's) birthday party at a gymnastics gym.  Gabe was a little shy at first, but he eventually warmed up to the idea and was running and jumping with all the other kids in no time.  It was cool watching to see his "gymnastics" skills.  I definitely see the benefit in developing these.  He had to crisscross jump over a white line on a inflatable mat, climb a wall, zig zag through a tunnel, walk on a balance beam (on the floor) and then run and jump into a foam pit.  All the kiddos looked so cute doing this.  We then picked up Uncle Adam at the Summit and grabbed birthday snow cones, which are our fav thing to do lateley.  Gabe chose pink and blue bubblegum, I got Mai Tai with cream and Adam chose Homemade Ice Cream- yum yum.  I normally get Frog in a blender with Cream- Try it, if you haven't.  I think my ideal job would be to own and work at one of these huts.  No lie....
After Sno Biz we went to dinner at Costas.  Gabe and I shared spaghetti and meatballs and then we went to the Dollar Theater to see Alvin and the Chipmunks.  Gabe enjoyed it, he got a little restless at the end, but I wanted to see the ending so we got through it.  Of course he had a popcorn and sprite for the full experience.
