Worth Watching

Here are some you tube videos that had me laughing out loud..... and yes they all involve babies.....

Food, Glorious Food

I am writing this post, so I will have a record of the food's Gabe has tried thus far.  I personally think in 20 years I will be able to remember all of Gabe's firsts, but I have been told by many that I will not.  I have asked my parents several questions such as: What was my first food?  When did I cut my first tooth?  How much did I weigh around 4 months?  And all I get is a blank stare and an ummm.... So, I guess I will start recording now. (by the way, I do have a really cute baby book, I am just so bad at making myself write in it- I have never been good at that kind of stuff).

See... cute baby book

Ok- So Gabe's first food in the entire world was the standard Rice Cereal- woo hoo exciting, I know.  He had this probably around 3.5 months.
Next- He tried sweet potatoes at 4 months....I think he liked them alright.  He didn't do a dance or anything, but ate them.
Since, we have tried:
Green Beans- He likes
Carrots- He likes
Pears- Are ok
Sweet Peas-Little Scary at first, then We Liked ( I hate sweet peas- I remember being forced to eat them or I had to go to bed when I was a kid).  I still have nightmares.
Apples-  (I mixed it with Oatmeal Cereal to make a little thicker).  He really liked them!  He had the whole jar.  Might I mention they were organic- not that I really care about all that, but I'm feeling proud at the moment.

And, I am so talented that even if I didn't know what I was feeding him at the time, I could tell you when his next bad diaper rolls around................yuck.  I miss the newborn poop- Did I just say that?

On other notes:

Here is a pic of Gabe's two teeth....

DO THE TRIPOD-

Gabe is now tripoding....

Developmental Milestone liked to be seen by 6 months (Gabe is 5 months on Monday)- Can you believe he will be sitting up by himself soon?!?

And excuse his outfit for not matching.....He soaked his matching shirt in drool, so daycare had to change it.

Gabe has learned to squeal.  I'm talking high pitched long shrills of excitment.  I will be in the grocery store and he just starts squealing out of nowhere.  The daycare told me he picked this up from the older kids running around him screaming. Who knows? But, it is darn cute.  Here is a video:

Hun, Sweetie, Baby

This post probably just applies to the females out there. At my new place of work, I visit the cafeteria quite often. Becky, the lady that works there, is very social, and always strikes up a conversation with anyone. She is maybe in her mid 30s. She always greets me with a "hey sweetie" and sends me off with a "bye hun" or "alright baby". Isn't it interesting how some of these phrases can just flow out of someone's mouth? and not be weird....it just goes with their personality. I, on the other hand, cannot pull this off. I know for a fact all of my friends would be completely weirded out if we got off the phone and I said, "Bye Hun". It gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about saying it. haha. Is there an age that you start to say these things? Most of the time, it is said to someone younger....which makes me wonder if I look 12. Even in my previous job, I would be on the phone with a total stranger, and they would say "May I put you on hold for a second sweetie?" I don't know. I just don't get it.

Just thought I would share, alright sweeties.

Alison

see- you just felt weird didn't you?

Go outside and try it....you know you want too

So I tried researching this, and I couldn't find anything.....but it is standing on it's own.  I could feel the gravitational pull when I was placing it into position............

Reading Gabe's mind...............

"Ugh, mom....you have the camera out again, Ok, I'm going to give you a cute smirk in the next picture"

"Ok, here is my cute face......"

"Huh? Are you kidding me?  I just gave you a cute face.  Put the camera away"

"She is so crazy, why does she thinks this will make me smile?"

I made it through my first week...

Sorry I have not posted sooner, but I have been exhausted!  I really enjoy my new job.  The day goes by so fast, because I am busy busy busy.  This past week I have been training on some reports I will be taking over in Excel, booked a flight for one of the execs, reserved 11 rooms at the Aloft hotel for a group of trainees coming in October, getting material/details ready for the training week, and currently in the process of planning a small party at the Wine Loft.  I went to my first weekly staff meeting on Tuesday, in which most of the discussion was over my head, but hopefully I will get the swing of it soon.  My calender is booked with upcoming meetings and conference calls.
Here is a description of what department I am in :  It's called  the Commercial Banking Business Development Group.  It covers businesses that range from 250,000 to 2.5 million.  The group is responsible for communications, marketing, reporting, etc.  That's what I have learned about it so far.....I'm sure there is more.
My desk is enclosed with a large window in which I have a 9th floor view of Sloss Furnace and the Red Mountain Expressway.....I love being able to see outside!  I really want to post a pic of this, but haven't taken one yet, because I didn't want others to think I was weird my first week there. ha- But check this post later on, I will insert a pic :)

Because of the extra commute, I am now getting up at 5:30....so early to me, trying to leave by 7 which really means I will leave by 7:10 7:15, so I can drop Gabe off and get to work by 8.  By the time I pick him up, its 6:00 before I get home.  Some nights this past week he went to sleep at 6:45/7:00ish, so I only got to see him for a little bit :(  Hopefully we will adjust and he will stay up a little later for me.

I will be cleaning all weekend.  It looks like a tornado came through my apt.  I just ddn't have the energy to keep up with it this week.  I will not insert pic here.

Thanks to all who have sent me texts, called, or emailed me asking about my new job!

Oh and click HERE to check out the Aloft Hotel in Soho Square- it looks so cool!

Please be praying for my friend Ty, he is somewhere in the 10/40 window with a group of people sharing the Word of Christ.  They have underground churches, since it is illegal to be a Christian.  He will be baptizing others in bathtubs after midnight in their home, in hopes to not be arrested.  I can't wait to hear what God has done when he returns.

Saturday Ramblings

You know keeping this blog has become quite entertaining for me.  I now make sure I have my camera always handy so I can document what ever topic I think of.  Is it strange that I am constantly thinking of good blog topics??  Probably so.  But, this has become my hobby/past time when I am not feeding, burping, changing, or bathing little Gabe.  Through blog stalking- fellow bloggers know what I mean by that term- one blogs leads you to another, then another, etc.  I have stumbled across blogs that are so pretty!  Now I want a professional camera and want to become computer savvy so I can add all these cool things to my blog.
Until that day comes- I will just keep posting as usual- so enjoy my random photos as I attempt to make this more aesthetically pleasing.

For the past week (below) have been my best friends............. I can not get rid of this cold.  I am trying not to talk all day, so I can get my voice back.  Gabe, I'm sure is confused by my silence.

In photo: Antibacterial hand soap (Wash your hands!), Cold and Flu Medicine, Chloraseptic Spray, and Cough Drops

Loving at the Moment : Chai Tea Latte

If you have never had one I really recommend!  Starbucks has great ones or Make your own:

Boil Water, Pour over Tea Bag- Let steep for several minutes, I add 2 spoons of sugar, drizzle honey in, and add a little bit of milk (I never measure anything).  It is very tasty and perfect for upcoming fall mornings.

I am dog sitting Sassy for the day.  Sassy is my child hood poodle who is around 13 years old now.  About 8 years ago, I woke up one morning to find her whining and attempting to move, but couldn't.  We ended up taking her to the vet, and somehow she had a broken vertebrae.  She was paralyzed from mid-way back down.  She had surgeries, acupuncture treatments, took meds, and nothing worked.  So we have had a handicapped dog ever since.  She has got along quite well.  She can't feel her back legs, so she just uses her front two to get her where she needs to go. (We even had a wheelchair for her at one point)  My parents have hardwood floors, so that helps her scoot easily.  She is getting old now though, and we have found her a couple of times turned on her back and she can't roll over....which is sad.  She is a really sweet dog and very in tune with your emotions.  I'm glad I get to hang out with her today.

and yes she has a diaper on, don't laugh- She and Gabe wear the same size :)

Things to do:
Clean
Laundry
Go buy a birthday card
Familiarize myself with Excel before new job starts on Monday

Thankful for at the moment:
Gabe's predicted nap times- It really helps knowing when they are going to be, so I can plan accordingly!

Bittersweet......

I've been slowly packing up my desk at work.  Today is my last day.  It is bittersweet.  I enjoy the people I work with.  They have been with me through a lot of change in my life and listened to my problems and have been there to put me in a good mood a lot of days.  In a way, work has become my social outlet (Is that sad?) ha.  I don't have the time or energy to hang out with my friends right now so seeing my 7 other coworkers that are all around the same age fills that need. However, I am ready to move on in my career.  I am excited about meeting new people and creating new relationships.  Look out world, Here I come.

(and yes that is a picture of Robert Pattinson {Edward Cullen from Twilight} hanging up in my cubicle.  I will be taking him with me.

Can I get a vote?

Ok- So I am trying to decide what I want Gabe to be for Halloween.  This is a big deal.  I mean, for the rest of his entire existance I will say, "Aww, your first halloween you were a ______"  I have narrowed it down to two options.

1st. Baby Sheep- Maybe I am going overboard with sticking to this Sheep theme, but it is soooo cute!  I have had a few guys tell me this is girly..... What do you think?  I would remove the bows.  Plus, this is the only time I can get away with something like this.  He has the rest of his life to be a superhero or ninja turtle.  Also- It comes in a size 6-9 months- which will be perfect.

2nd.  Sock Monkey - I think this is adorable.  I love sock monkeys.  This has a cool vintage feel to me.  I would choose this if the above is too "girly", but the smallest size it comes in is 12 months, so more than likely it will swallow him.  I'm thinking sheep this year, sock monkey next ????  I don't know.  Comments please.

And yes I realize he can't go trick or treating or anything, but it will make for a cute picture!

GABE HAS A TOOTH- TWO IN FACT!

One popped up last week, and the other on Sunday I believe.  He was really fussy last week, ran a slight fever, and had some messy diapers- won't go into detail. :)

Here is a chart of when the baby teeth are suppose to come in- every baby is different however.

So by the chart, Gabe should get his first tooth around 6 months, but his first two came in at 4 months- That's my Gabe- so advanced. :)

You can Get under my Umbrella...ella..ella..eh..eh...eh

So- I own one umbrella.  It's not cute, actually I don't really like it at all, but it seems to be the only one I can keep up with.  I have purchased neat little compact umbrellas with cute designs on them, but I somehow always manage to lose them or leave them in someone else's car.  Then, the next time I am at a store I just can't bring myself to pay 12 to 15 dollars for another one (has anyone else ever wondered why umbrella's cost that much- shouldn't they be like 6 dollars?) Anywho....so I have managed to keep this ugly shade of yellow one that matches nothing I wear.  I could not tell you for the life of me where I got it- I did not buy it I know that much.  I was aware that it had the name of a medicine on it, but never paid attention to what it was.  It was raining the other day and I was with my mom and dad (and gabe) about to walk into Costco, and I thought I would ask mom what kind of medicine I had been walking around promoting for the past year or so.  I expanded the umbrella and before I could even ask, there in bold print under the medicine name was RECTAL SUPPOSITORIES.
Great- Just Great.
Why would someone make that into an umbrella???  And who gave this to me?
So- I am now in the market for a new umbrella....I think I will give in and go for one with a cute design.
