We have been reading Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs before bed each night, he calls them Neatballs- cracks me up- I don't want to correct him.
Other things:
Brooke recently did a blog post on her make up organizer. I have a similar one, and love it, so figured I should give it a shout out as well :)
Isn't she lovely??? I want to name her.
Bottom Drawer: Eye Makeup
Second Drawer: Left Side: Blush Right Side: Mascara and Eye Liner
First Drawer: Powders, Foundation, Primers, Bronzers and Highlighters
The top has an open lid that has four compartments, I don't really use this part of it, but I have stored a few nail polishes and lip products here. On top of my organizer I have another organizer that I found for $16.00 at a store in Homewood. It has several compartments and I store all face wash products and creams as well as my make up brushes.
I LOVE MY ORGANIZER!
I think I use more of what I have vs. going out and buying more and it just makes the rush of getting out the door in the mornings a little easier.
Brooke's Bday was Friday and we celebrated on Saturday.
It all started with Blowouts at the Blowout Boutique. I have been here once before for an updo- because I am not the best at doing my own hair....or other people's for that matter. I love the vibe of this place, they offer you wine or champagne while you are being styled. I also love the Moroccan Oil products they use. mmmmm, smells so good. We all got the "Bombshell" blowout- Don't we look fab?
Jana also joined us, but she and her prego self had to leave before the pic
Brooke- you look like a Diva
After Blowouts, we went to Avo for dinner in Mountain Brook. I have always wanted to try this place. Yummmmm- (I ordered the grilled cheese- gouda, american and ham with a tomato dipping sauce)
Love Val and her support of me going on the Bachelor- ha!
All the girls at dinner
LBD and staches.....
We continued our night at Above....V.I.P style :)
It was a great night- and I think Brooke had LOTS of fun ;)
Friday night was low key- went to dinner at a fabulous restaurant, La Dolce Vita- shout out to the tiramisu and then met Brooke and boo for a drink at the Blue Monkey. FYI- it's smoke free now- woop woop!
I had the privilege of attending the AWODS in March. Yes, I spelled that correctly. Irontribe is a crossfit gym here in Birmingham and this was their annual "awards" event. I will have to post more on my "irontribe/crossfit" opinion later (it's a good one!), but for now- enjoy pics. I'm thinking some of these will be in the next issue of About Town :)
I had so much fun at the event. I met some really great people and I love getting dressed up and being social. I also had the opportunity to introduce myself to David Platt and his wife, Heather. I have to admit I was a bit nervous in doing so...I feel like they are famous. ha. (David Platt is the pastor of the church I attend, Brook Hills)
This is a Cake- HOLY MOLY!
All Paleo of course, quite tasty :)
We then ventured over to Steele and Brooke met us there- Fun night :)
So, lately I have been into skin care products. I really want the size of my pores on my nose to shrink. Its all I see when I look in the mirror. Anywho- so I went to Ulta in search of some pore shrinking products. I purchased Formula 10.0.5 Pores Be Pure Mud Mask and Down to the Pore Strips. I chose these because they were only around $10.00 each and the packaging is cool.
I did browse the skin care section at Ulta, and gosh everything is so expensive. I've heard such great things about the Philosophy line, but just don't know if I can bring myself to pay that much. I'm sure I will cave and end up buying it..... I've also been researching the Clarisonic. I've read really great reviews, so this may be my splurge for Spring. I currently use make up remover wipes (which I feel are rough on my skin) and then follow with eye make up remover (I use close to 7 cotton balls- ugh) and then wash my face with a mild face wash Neutrogena Simple or Mary Kay. I then have to do eye make up remover again, because what I had still on my eyes smeared when I washed my face.....and I still don't feel fully cleansed. So I've read that the Clarisonic gives you that deep clean feeling. So, when you apply moisturizer or anti aging creams it settles deeper into your skin and you soak up more of the good stuff! I will keep you posted if I end up getting this. I'm excited just thinking about it. My goal is to start doing a mask and nose strip once a week along with a scrub once a week and use a gentle cleaning cream/wash every night and morning. I'm also a sucker for anything that has vitamins and minerals in it. I honestly wonder if all the anti wrinkle cream stuff even works....I feel like good skin is a combination of genetics and taking care of yourself when you are younger (your diet, spf and adding vitamins and minerals to your skin), I feel like if you keep up a good routine of doing so, your skin will be the best it can be with what God gave you.
For all your beauty product questions and concerns please go to What's the Story Brooke? She's way more into this stuff than I am, although I feel like I'm not far behind. We would probably be so dangerous in Sephora together....eek.
Have a Pore-tastic Friday- yeah....that was lame...I know ha
Parent Hint: The circus sells light up toys for $12.00 and cotton candy for $10.00. I went to the dollar store yesterday during my lunch and purchased glow sticks and a light up wand for $2.00. I hide it until he starts asking for me to buy one and then say, well look what we have- distraction, cool light up toy, happy kid = check. I didn't have time to look for cotton candy, but next time I will have this in my bag as well.
Photo Session-
Check out G's face.....hahaha
In the zone.....
After this picture I asked Gabe, "Gabe, try not to squint your eyes, can you do a softer smile?"
Hope everyone had a great weekend! G and I didn’t do much of anything and it was great. Friday night we got out and about with my friend Brooke. We went to Ulta and Target- both amazing places on this earth. Brooke has started a beauty review blog (HERE). Please check it out! It’s a great daily read. She has gotten me into really reviewing my beauty products before I buy them. We both found a new best friend on you tube. Her name is Kandee and she is a makeup artist. I love her personality. She has four kids and I think looks beautiful. I recommend checking out her videos. She will teach you new tricks, recommend great products, and have you laughing in a matter of minutes. This is her blog (HERE) and below is a you tube video of one of her reviews. I love this eye pallete! I can't wait to try to look below. There is so much you can do with it!
Isn't she pretty? I want to be her friend.
Saturday, G and I slept till 10:30. I love that I have a kid who likes to sleep in! We also took a long nap that afternoon. I had to return a few things at the mall and wanted to purchase G an Auburn hat. He calls every hat an “Auburn hat” so I thought I should actually get him one. A must do at the mall is to ride the carousel and eat Chick-Fil-A, in G terms, “I wanna ride da elephant and eat chicka filet. So we did. I rode the pig.
Sunday was church and another lazy afternoon. I attempted to run, but for some reason my knees and ankles were hurting. I’m 26- that shouldn’t be happening yet should it? I started a dance aerobics class about 3 weeks ago. It kicks my you know what! I love it though. I feel so good after, not so much during, but great after. Although I have to say my pants have felt a little tight in the past week or two. I'm going to be ticked if this makes me gain weight some how. I have a pretty high metabolism and have always been able to eat whatever and not work out and nothing happens- now the second I start working out....I'm growing- what's that about? I think it has adverse effects on me. We shall see....I might go back to sitting on the couch and eating debbie cakes if it means I'm leaner and meaner.
