Weekend Wrap

Hope everyone had a great weekend. “The Hayes Baker” came to Birmingham this past weekend (Woop Woop). She was a bridesmaid in Christina Knox’s (friend from college) wedding. I met the bridal party out for drinks after the rehearsal dinner on Friday night at Black Market Bar. Doesn’t the name give you the feeling it’s going to be a swanky place in which you need to dress up? Well, it’s not. It’s a sports bar. Ha

Hayes and I may have drifted to the Lakeview area after for old times sake. Hayes ordered us hotdogs from the stand out front. It was quite the adventure. We enjoyed them on the way home, all 1.5 each…mmmm.

We ran into Josephine!

Hayes ordering 2 hotdogs that turned into 3

We then got back to my place and watched videos from our adventures in Spain and Rome (Summer 2005)- I need to do a post or two about that! Anyhoo- we stayed up till 4 30 in the morning cracking up at our horrible haircuts and funny personalities walking around the streets of Spain and Rome.

Spain

Rome

Saturday we had lunch at Roly Poly (which I do love), request of Hayes….last time she visited we went to Panera Bread.  I like to think if I hadn't been in Birmingham in 4 years I would pick different places....but hey, I'm not judging (well maybe a little!)

I got a pedicure on Saturday, and I am loving the color-  I don't know why I am feeling dark colors already.  I admit I am ready for fall.  Isn't it pretty though? It's called Smokin Hot.

Saturday evening I went to Christina's wedding.  This was my first wedding to attend on Samford's campus.  The chapel is so pretty, and Christina looked stunning walking down the aisle.
The reception was at B&A Warehouse.  I really like this venue for wedding receptions and was very impressed with the food quality and display.  See pics of the night below:

This was the best tasting cake-  It's from a lady who has trained and worked under Barb's Cakes (she has been featured on TLC)

The Bride!

Instead of a Groom's Cake- they had this sweets table set up.  I wish my camera was better....Anyways, It was a peanut butter moose and a chocolate moose in little mini martini glasses.

Chinese Station- They had little Chinese to go boxes that you could fill with rice and a variety of toppings

Little mini egg rolls- So Cute

So good to see Hayes!

Another Samford run in at the Wedding- p.s My dress has pockets!  I get really excited when a dress has pockets....ha

By the way this weekend I rocked fake lashes- I just wanted to do something different.  I now think they are a must have for an event- Why not? They are super cheap and add some DRAMA to your eye!

And...............BAM!

I also got rid of my high school highlights- Thank goodness!

May 2011- Wedding Time

I went to a wedding in May here in Birmingham, and how I do not have a pic of the bride and groom, I do not know.....Sorry   Mallorie was a gorgeous bride though, and I heard she did a lot of the little details herself, which is quite impressive.  Too bad, I have no pics....

Rehearsal Dinner was at "The Club", yummy yummy, fancy fancy.  Again no pics....

We went out afterwards to "Above" (Rooftop Bar in Bham).  This was my first time here, and I had SOOO much fun.  This is where I took all my pictures, but the only one I can show you is this one :) ha.

The Wedding was great and the reception was a lot of fun.  The groom performed Bad Bad Leroy Brown with a few of his groomsmen.  I have a video of this I will try to add later.

P.s. Can I just say I love my dress?  Is that vain?  I don't care... I wish you could see all of it, but I got soo many compliments.  And the best part- It has POCKETS! (From Soca here in Bham)

Groom- Check out that soul

Winke....yes his name is Winke (pronounced Winkey)

Lauren's Wedding Shower

A friend from college, Lauren had her Birmingham wedding shower mid April.  It was great to celebrate with her and see some good Phi Mu faces :)

March 2011 Recap- Me

So, March was a good month.  1.  It was my birthday, although I am not big on birthdays, but I suppose I will give myself a shout out. (Woop Woop, March 7)  2. Gabe spent the night with the C's for the first time, and while this was hard for me, it also gave me some much needed "me" time.  He is supposed to spend the night the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month (when the C's don't cancel).

Gabe made me a birthday card at school :)

Apparently during March, I was feelin' avocados, because this picture was in my album.  They are so delicious though!

My night out- At Pale Eddy's after a yummy dinner at 26

My friend Ty got married in March, so Brooke and I drove to Natchez, MS to attend the wedding. We made it back in one piece, despite my driving and even enjoyed chocolate covered strawberries along the way.

Brooke got the big strawberry, I was nice and let her have it without a fight.

We decided to take one awkward pic- On purpose, because we are weird like that

January and February 2011 Recap

Not gonna lie, January and February were low months for me.  I was not out and about as I should have been.  One of my college roommates got married and I read scripture at her wedding.  It was a beutiful ceremony and great to see college friends!  Below are some pics-

Rehearsal Dinner

Bridal Luncheon

Each attendant pulls a ribbon from under the cake, licks the icing away and finds a charm.  Each charm is different and has a meaning.  We we warned about the "old maid" charm.  I ended up with a "dice" meaning I will find good luck throughout my lifetime.....(I am hoping this comes in the light of winning the lottery or marrying a famous musician- I'll keep you posted)

The Wedding

 Anna Lauren looked so pretty!

I was being a party pooper and not dancing (I know- me NOT dancing???) and Jo was entertaining me....

Baby Stuff

My dear friend Ashley (who I still like to refer to as "Crafton") had her baby shower in January.  We were so excited to celebrate her and baby Hadley (she is now 5 months old!).  Yay, for my friends having babies!

October 2010 Travels

I was invited to a wedding in Boston in October.  This was my first time to Boston, and I loved it.  The weather was perfect.  Here are a few pics from the trip and wedding.

Wedding

The wedding was really pretty and the reception was tons of fun.  I love a fun wedding!

Tour of Boston

Posing in downtown Boston

Granary Cemetery- dates back to the 1660's.  Bodies that lie here include: Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock, victims of the Boston Massacre (March 1770), Ben Franklin's Parents, and Mother Goose

Holmes' Headstones- maybe we are related?

Boston Common

The North Church (One if by land, Two if by sea)

Inside the Church

U.S.S. Constitution

The famous Mike's Pastry!

The line was out the door....... (supposedly always is)

This is me waiting with excitement.....

I'll take 5 of those....

Our purchases- Confession- I have a bit of a sweet tooth.  Mike's Pastry is known for it's cannoli's...but I had to delight in some other treats as well: Red Velvet Whoopie Pie, Chocoloate Covered Strawberries, Oreo Cheesecake, Black and White Cookie, Lobster Tail (hiding), and Cannoli's!

Heaven

A really trendy hotel- had to get a solo shot by the name

See....trendy lobby.  I love staying in trendy hotels-

This is a stock photo I found of the room- Cool right?  They had fresh Cucumber and Strawberry water offered in the lobby 24/7, complimentary wine from 5:00-6:00 and the staff was most helpful.

Overall Boston was amazing.  We walked the Freedom trail, I tried the Clam Chowder at the oldest pub in Boston, and we ate at Lemoncello's one night.  The best Italian food of my life.  It was here I fell in love with Chianti wine and meat balls. ha.

The restaurante is located on the 'North End'.  The guy who started it, was a bus boy from Italy.  He won the lottery, and brought his family members to America to work in the restaurant.  Please go here if you go to Boston.  The food is amazing.  I will have to go back sometime. My mouth is watering just thinking of it!
